Anchorage (Arrival Day)

Upon arrival in Anchorage transfer to your downtown hotel. Remaining day at leisure. Anchorage, Alaska’s largest city is scenically located between the Chugach Mountains and the Cook Inlet. Take a stroll along 5th Avenue, check out one of the museums or take a short walk on the Coastal Trail with a breathtaking view across the inlet. In the evening you may enjoy a seafood dinner with fresh crab, halibut or salmon in one of Anchorage’s excellent restaurants. Overnight: Inlet Tower

Anchorage - Valdez

Meet your tour guide and fellow travelers for a tour orientation briefing. After boarding a deluxe motor coach enjoy the scenic ride towards the Matanuska Valley - famous for their gigantic grown vegetables and fruits. Some of the highlights along the way to Valdez are panoramic views of the Wrangell/St. Elias Mountain Range and a stopover at magnificent Worthington Glacier. We will drive across Thompson Pass with its abundant wildflower areas and breathtaking views and through Keystone Canyon with some nice waterfalls. Arrival in Valdez – the terminus of the Trans-Alaska Pipeline. Overnight: Harbor Inn

Valdez

The area is also called “the Switzerland of Alaska”. Take the opportunity and stroll through the community to see the sights and the bustling fishing boat harbor. One of your highlights for the day will be the cruise (included) to Columbia Glacier - the largest tidewater glacier in Alaska. Its three-mile-wide-face spills out tons of ice into Prince William Sound. Relax on board and admire the many vistas of countless fjords, mountain scenery and abundant marine wildlife. A deli-style onboard lunch included. Return to Valdez and time at leisure. Overnight: Harbor Inn

Valdez - Fairbanks

Board the motor coach for the scenic drive along the Alaska Pipeline to Fairbanks. Stopover in Copper Center to visit a historic roadhouse dated back to 1898 and the first lodging place in the Copper River Valley. Watch out for moose and bears along the road. Arrive later during the day in Fairbanks with almost 24 hours daylight during the summer months. TIP: visit the 44-Acre Alaskaland Theme Park for a nice salmon dinner event. Overnight: Bridgewater Hotel

Fairbanks

Today we explore the many sights of the former gold rush capital on a city tour including a visit in one of the best museums of the State - at the Alaska University. In the afternoon we take a scenic cruise on the Chena River aboard a grand sternwheeler – the Riverboat Discovery III. During the cruise you’ll learn about Alaska Native Cultures on a tour of an authentic Athabascan Indian village, receive background information from a professional dog musher and see a bush pilot take off and land. Overnight Bridgewater Hotel

Fairbanks - Denali National Park

We travel south along the Parks Highway to Denali National Park with a stopover in Nenana – an early trading center for Athabascan Indians and famous for its winter Ice Classics. In the afternoon you may spend some time with outdoor activities such as: rafting, helicopter flightseeing, hiking, a first short trip into the national park or on one of the Park Service interesting interpretive wilderness programs or slide shows. Overnight: Denali Bluffs Hotel

Denali National Park

Morning at leisure. Afternoon departure for a eight hour park and wildlife tour in the shadows of North America’s highest mountain - 20.320 ft. Mt. McKinley. Watch for free roaming Grizzly Bears, Moose, Caribou, Wolf and Dall Sheep along the ridges and river beds or observe one of the 150 different bird species inheriting the park area. The tour includes a lunch box and hot beverage. Overnight: Denali Bluffs Hotel

Denali National Park - Anchorage

Morning at leisure or for additional park/wildlife tours. Board the Deluxe Dome Car of the Alaska Railroad in the afternoon for a scenic rail tour back to Anchorage. You travel through the unspoiled wilderness areas of the Denali State Park with excellent vistas of the Alaska- and Talkeetna Mountain Range, glaciers and snowcapped mountains. Watch for bears on moose along the way. Overnight: Inlet Tower

Anchorage

Morning brief sightseeing tour of Anchorage including a visit to the Alaska Native Heritage Center - an interpretive center featuring native cultures and Lake Hood - the world’s largest and busiest floatplane base. Tonight enjoy an Alaska style dinner (included) and say farewell to your fellow travelers.

Check out of your hotel. Transfer to the airport. End of tour.
